The reason why fully automatic welding robots can occupy more than 40% of the total number of industrial robots is related to the special industry of welding. Welding, as an industrial "tailor", is a very important processing method in industrial production. At the same time, due to the presence of welding smoke, arc light, and metal splashes, the welding working environment is very bad. The quality of welding has a decisive influence on product quality. In summary, the use of fully automatic welding robots has the following main significance:

 

(1) Stabilize and improve welding quality and ensure its uniformity. Welding parameters such as welding current, voltage, welding speed, and welding dry extension length play a decisive role in welding results. When using robot welding, the welding parameters for each weld are constant, and the quality of the weld is less affected by human factors, which reduces the requirements for workers' operating skills, so the welding quality is stable. In manual welding, welding speed, dry extension length, etc. are all variable, so it is difficult to achieve uniform quality.


(2) Improved working conditions for workers. With robot welding, workers are only used to load and unload workpieces, away from welding arcs, smoke and spatter. For spot welding, workers no longer need to carry bulky manual welding tongs, freeing them from high-intensity physical labor.


(3) Improved labor productivity. Robots do not get tired and can produce continuously for 24 hours a day. In addition, with the application of high-speed and efficient welding technology, the efficiency of robot welding is more significantly improved.


(4) The product cycle is clear and it is easy to control product output. The production rhythm of robots is fixed, so the production plan is very clear.
